Goran Strbac is a Professor of Energy Systems, with extensive experience in advanced modelling and analysis of operation, planning, security and economics of energy systems. He led the development of novel advanced analysis approaches and methodologies that have been extensively used to inform industry, governments and regulatory bodies about the role and value of emerging new technologies and systems in supporting cost effective evolution to smart low carbon energy future. He is currently Director of the joint Imperial-Tsinghua Research Centre on Intelligent Power and Energy Systems, Leading Author in IPCC WG 3, Member of OFGEM RIIO-2 Challenging Group, Member of the UK Smart System Forum, Member of the European Technology and Innovation Platform for Smart Networks for the Energy Transition, and Member of the Joint EU Programme in Energy Systems Integration of the European Energy Research Alliance. He co-authored 4 books and published over 200 technical papers.
Philip W. T. Pong received a B.Eng. from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2002 with 1st class honours. Then he obtained a PhD in engineering at the University of Cambridge in 2005. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Magnetic Materials Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for three years. Currently he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). His research interest focuses on the fault detection, predictive maintenance, and anomaly detection of power grid. He is the Founding Director of the Green Technology Research and Training Laboratory, leading the research and education activities of offshore wind energy at NJIT. Philip Pong is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (FInstP), a Fellow of the Energy Institute (FEI), a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM), a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE), a Fellow of the NANOSMAT Society (FNS), a chartered physicist (CPhys), a chartered engineer (CEng), a chartered energy engineer, a registered professional engineer (R.P.E. in Electrical, Electronics, Energy), and a Senior Member of IEEE (SMIEEE). He serves on the editorial boards for several IEEE and SCI journals.
Prof. Friedrich Grimm was born in Stuttgart in 1954. He studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart and at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago in 1980. After having finished his studies in 1981, he worked as an employed architect and later on temporarily joined the scientific staff of the Institute for Building Construction at the University of Stuttgart. During his practice as a freelanced architect, since 1989 he took part in competitions and completed several multifamily houses in southern Germany. Due to a series of books, which he has written in the field of steel construction, edited by Ernst & Sohn in Berlin (2003), and one the subject of one family homes, edited by Callwey in Munich (2006), he was nominated a professor honorary in 2009 by the faculty one, for architecture and urban design at the university of Stuttgart. In 2016, he founded the RES- Institute as a completely independent think tank in the field of renewable energies. Since then he works with passion and endurance on projects matching the RES-Institutes obligation to provide blueprints for a friendly climate on earth. Several patents in the field of concentrated solar thermal systems led him into the field of optics where he invented a wide angel sensor, recording light signals with infinite depth of field in real time. Among his inventions there is also a new achromatic lens focusing light of different wave lengths, even x-rays. His latest invention relates to a quantum mechanical device which, making use of the electronic spin of quantum particles with spin number 1/2, to create a fluid dynamic equilibrium within an electromagnetically enclosed plasma of a fusion reactor, by a regular change of the spin's angular momentum.
Willi Semmler is the Arnhold Professor of International Cooperation and Development at the New School for Social Research, New York, and was a professor at American University, Washington, D.C., and Bielefeld University, Germany, and was a Fulbright Professor at the University of Vienna. He is an honorary doctor of the American University Europe-Fon and was an evaluator of research projects for the EU Commission and a visiting scholar at the ECB and the IMF while working for the IEO at the IMF. He is also a member of the Center on Capitalism and Society, Columbia University, directed by Edmund Phelps (Nobel Laureate in Economics), a research associate at La Sapienza, Rome, and an associate editor of the journal Econometrics and Statistics and is co-editor of the Springer book series Dynamic Modeling and Econometrics in Economics and Finance. His research is on nonlinearities in economics and empirical macroeconomics, financial economics, and the economics of climate change. He has numerous journal and book publications, and his research has also appeared in publications of the World Bank, the IMF, the ECB, and ILO. He recently joined the Economic Frontiers Program as a Senior Guest Research Scholar at the IIASA, Laxenburg.
Pierluigi Siano (M’09–SM'14) received the M.Sc. degree in electronic engineering and the Ph.D. degree in information and electrical engineering from the University of Salerno, Salerno, Italy, in 2001 and 2006, respectively.
He is a Professor and Scientific Director of the Smart Grids and Smart Cities Laboratory with the Department of Management & Innovation Systems, University of Salerno.
Since 2021 he has been a Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Science, University of Johannesburg.
His research activities are centered on demand response, energy management, the integration of distributed energy resources in smart grids, electricity markets, and planning and management of power systems.
In these research fields, he has co-authored more than 700 articles including more than 410 international journals that received in Scopus more than 18000 citations with an H-index equal to 65.
In the period 2019-2022 he has been awarded as a Highly Cited Researcher in Engineering by Web of Science Group. He has been the Chair of the IES TC on Smart Grids.

Rizalman Mamat is currently working as a Professor & Director, Centre for Automotive Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Malaysia. He graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia for his bachelor and master’s degree in mechanical engineering. He then pursued his PhD degree in fuel and energy at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. His major research interests include alternative energy, heat transfer, combustion, internal combustion engine, and computational fluid dynamics.

The chemical engineer Michael Pittroff started 1990 to work with Solvay Interox in Munich, Germany. He was employed in the technical service for the environmental applications of hydrogen peroxide. 1993 Michael Pittroff worked as a research scientist in the environmental research group (Laboratoire Central ) of Solvay, Brussels Belgium. In 1996 Mr. Pittroff is employed as technical manager for SF6, S-Fluorides and 227 pharma in the technical service inorganic fluorides. He successfully developed various processes for gas separation and mixing, which have been patented and marketed in licence agreements. Mr Pittroff's innovative strength can also be illustrated by winning the Solvay Innovation Trophy and the 2nd European Recycling Award. In 2003 Mr. Pittroff joint the global marketing for Pharmaceutical propellants and Semiconductor Chemicals. 2006 he is Marketing Manager for Semiconductor Chemicals in Seoul, Korea. Mr. Pittroff and was in charge to build an electronic gases plant for F2/N2 and SF6. Since 2012 he returned to Solvay Germany and is global marketing manager for electronic gases and Fluorine. He is developing Solvaclean® and its application to replace PFCs and NF3 in Semiconductor and Photovoltaic applications. He has more than 40 Publications and holds several Patents.

Our research group is actively engaged in value addition and conversion of biowaste materials for sustainable and renewable energy applications.
In brief, biowaste materials are utilized in the production, optimization and storage of sustainable and renewable fuels including bio CNG, bio PNG, Hydrogen and Methane, suitable for domestic cooking, transportation and electricity generation.
Simultaneously, activated charcoal, quantum dots and graphene like materials are derived from the wastes for its application in the fabrication of energy storage and conversion devices which includes rechargeable batteries, supercapacitors and solar cells.
Furthermore, several nanomaterials including metallic nanoparticles, noble metal oxides, quantum dots are synthesized by adopting green synthesis methods for its application in water treatment, sensing devices, biosensors, fluorescence and energy applications.
In a nutshell, our research group is actively engaged in transforming waste to wealth by utilizing technology driven system, indigeneously developed for research purposes.

Fatah BOUFOUDI holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in energy, from the University of Mouloud Mammeri in Tizi-Ouzou, Algeria. He is the author of several scientific articles and participates in numerous research projects. His fields of interest are renewable energies, in particular solar energy, optimization and performance improvement of nanofluid-based solar power plants, and technical-economic and environmental studies. Mr BOUFOUDI has a keen interest in scientific research and sustainable development.
Dr. Ayodeji Olalekan Salau received a B.Eng. degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
from Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria. He received his MSc and PhD
degrees in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-
Ife, Nigeria. He is a registered professional engineer with the Council for the Regulation
of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a member of the International Association of
Engineers (IAENG). Dr. Salau serves as a reviewer for numerous reputable international
journals, and is a Co-Chair and technical program committee member for various
conferences. Dr. Salau has authored/co-authored about 125 articles in a number of
reputable international conferences, book series, and major international journals. He has
authored 3 books. His research interests include research in the fields of computer vision,
image processing, signal processing, machine learning, and power systems engineering. He
is the recipient of the Quarterly Franklin Membership given in 2020 by the Editorial Board of London Journals Press
for top quality research output. In addition, Dr. Salau’s paper was awarded the best paper of the year 2019 in Cogent
Engineering. Furthermore, he is the recipient of the International Research Award on New Science Inventions
(NESIN) under the category of “Best Researcher Award” given by Science Father in 2020. He is the recipient of the
International Best Researcher Award given by the ISSN International Science & Technology Awarding body
(IISTAC-2022) in 2022. He was also awarded the Young Scientist Award by the International Research Awards on
